Osborn, Missouri - David Wood overcame a flat tire to win his division of the qualifying races at US-36 Raceway, securing the pole position for the Sunday-special modified race that drew several standout local competitors to the 3/8ths-mile banked clay oval.
Dave used a forward starting position in winning the first of two heats, despite first lap contact that cut a left front tire on his #82 Wood Racing/Fast Lane Engines/Machine Supply racer.
Starting first in the main event, Dave saved ground along the inside for the initial laps while surrendering a handful of positions. Car builder and driver John Allen (#98) worked to the lead from fourth on the starting grid and stayed there for the win, while the #82 crossed the wire fifth. Sixteen qualifiers contested the race.
Levi Jones (#20) drove his Tony Stewart Racing sprintcar to victory in the USAC National Series's US-36 meet.
